Winter Damage

Well this past weekend was our first trip out to the camper for the year. I went out on Friday to open up and get things ready. I pulled up and noticed that the thing about the fender (fender flare) was broke. That sucks but what can you do. I go around and go into the camper and start looking for signs of rodents which I did not find ANY! But to my dismay I found a ton of vinyl that ripped over the winter. So now we have a rip in the rear of the camper in the bathroom and then in our bedroom that is on the opposite end of the floor is just trashed. So any thoughts on what I can do? Do you think insurance would cover the flooring? With not having a slide we are pretty limited on floors space so I think installing laminate would be almost impossible.

After finding that I was pretty bummed but as more and more people got to the campground I realized I could have had it much worse. One couples tub cracked in five places, several people had water line issues, some had squirrels.

It did turn out to be a great weekend, I can not believe how relaxed I am when I am there!

Going to the Zoo

Ok, so maybe we are bad parents. Keaton just turned 4 and he has never been to a Zoo. By this time in Cameron’s life I think he had been to everyone in the state. Any ways we finally got him there for his 4th birthday. Things were going great until he smelled the buffalo! He lost it as you can see in the pictures he is holding his nose and crying. He is not crying because he is scared he is crying because he was squeezing his nose so hard it hurt. He hated the smell of the buffalo, he says they “smell like poop” lol.

Luther Seminary

While Darcy was in college she had the privialge of staying in a house on Luther Seminary. That was over ten years ago, for Keatons birthday we decided to go down to the zoo and we swung buy some of the areas where she spent a lot of her time while in college. One of the coolest places was “Old Muskego Church” it was built in 1844 in Wisconsin by Norwegian immigrants and then moved to Luther Seminary in 1904 piece by piece. It is still used for some weddings, baptisms and such. It is such a neat building.

Macro?

Here is my first macro attempt. I do not have a macro lens and I was pretty rushed so I did not have a lot of time. I can not wait to do some more.

April Snowstorm

Errrrrrr I am ready for spring. I do have to say it was kind of pretty out though.

Happy 4th Birthday Keats!

It was our baby’s 4th birthday today! We celebrated by bringing him to the zoo (it was his first time at the zoo, yes we are bad parents). We had a great day day. We will post some more pictures when we have had a chance to go through them! Happy Birthday Bud!

A Little Bit of Water

With all the flooding going on a few hours from us, I went out to see if I could find much in our area. Here the water is pretty high compared to where it usually is. I just can not imagine what the people in Fargo are dealing with.

***Note*** Look at how the water is so green. That is what it really looked like. It was so strange and kind of creepy!

What does a typical six year old do to earn money?

What does a typical six year old do to earn money? Most would offer to do some extra work around the house, maybe sell some cookies or lemonade. Not mine, he sets up a light show in his room and tries to charge money to enter his room to see the show. He has this big plan of taking over the backyard this winter and asking “Mr. Gates” (Bill Gates) to donate some money so he can purchase more “stuff” so it draws a bigger crowd to make more money. I asked him why would Mr. Gates donate money to you. He says “well I plan to use the money to pay for the stuff and any extra could help sick kids or families” in the area. What a great heart, I hope he continues to think that way when he gets older.

Goodbye Grandpa Pete…

A post from Darcys blog. Her Grandpa past away last night, I just wanted to pass this along. This is a wonderful post babes, I am glad he is at peace as well. Gordy will be greatly missed!

Goodbye Grandpa Pete…

May you now be in peace. I am SOOOO sorry you had to go through what you did today. We will miss you terribly but I am happy to know you are now at peace and no longer have to have your body betray you. Love you lots! Darcy

It’s been a sad night. We got word late this afternoon that while my Grandpa was at dialysis today his heart stopped. They shocked him and did CPR for 45 minutes until they got him on a breathing machine and transferred him to Grand Forks. Unfortunately this goes against EVERYTHING he wanted. He has a DNR (do not resuscitate) and this is the second time this order has been gone against. Fortunately he also has a living will and we all knew he would not want his body kept alive on a machine so 15 minutes ago surrounded by my Grandma Vonie, my Dad and Steve and Shari they removed the breathing tube, he took a few more breaths and passed. I knew his time was coming but it’s still so sad. I think the thing that hurts me the most is knowing how he was treated in their attempts to revive him when that was TOTALLY against his will. That makes me so mad. I know that his spirit probably passed at that time and I find comfort in that. I am so thankful that I was able to go visit with him a few weeks ago. It was a strange feeling seeing a man who was so changed (in a good way) by what he has been through. He was very content, appreciative and pleasant. That was nice to see…I kind of missed his crankiness but it was nice to see that he was in a better place, a place more ready for his next journey. I will post more when we know further details…Thank you all for your prayers!

Geocaching

The boys and I needed to go fix a geocache we had placed. It was such a beautiful day we all decided to go. The boys love geocaching, every time we turn onto a dirt road they get all excited asking if we are going geocaching. We did not do a lot of it last summer and now as we are getting back into it I have noticed there are TONS of new caches in the area. If you have never tired it, I highly recommended it. Go to www.geocaching.com for more info or ask away!

Eyes

Cam had his annual eye exam. It has been neat to see him start to use the “grown up” system for checking his eyes. When he was younger they would use prisms and different lights to see how it would reflect back. I would question how accurate it was (I shouldn’t I have 0 knowledge in ophthalmology). DW had to take a few pics at his apt! This is the first year his perscription has not changed.

Take A Guess

On another one of our walks we came across this. What is it? What is it for? Who knows! Really I have no clue of what it is or what it is for. Do you?

Are you walking in financial peace?

We just finished our Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University class tonight. It was AWESOME! I am kind of sad to be done, we had such a fun group and class was a lot of hard work but we have learned so much, been so inspired and truly enjoyed it!!! Here is the AMAZING news…our class (a total of 27 couples) paid off $105,941 in debt and put $297,933 into savings. WOW!!! That was done in 13 weeks between 27 couples. AMAZING! I HIGHLY recommend this class, it has completely changed how we look at things, how we view our future, our careers and our finances. It has been great for our marriage and we look forward to seeing where we will be in the next couple of years. Hopefully some day we will be completely debt free!

There is nothing special about this pic, I just like I don’t know why but I do.

Safety

I know this is a few days late but this brought to mind “safety week” challenge. There is a local organization that puts up Christmas lights through our Arboretum and during the holiday months you can drive through and look at thousands of lights and the money goes back to the community. You all know how Cameron is about his Christmas lights and he wanted to walk through and look at all the cords. As we were walking through we saw a big display and he starts yelling “Dad, an indoor surge protector is outside, that is not safe!” You got to love him.

Also take a look at this video to see some of the AWESOME displays. I did not take the video but a local guy in the area did a great job. note... pay attention to how big these displays really are!
