Geocaching

The boys and I needed to go fix a geocache we had placed. It was such a beautiful day we all decided to go. The boys love geocaching, every time we turn onto a dirt road they get all excited asking if we are going geocaching. We did not do a lot of it last summer and now as we are getting back into it I have noticed there are TONS of new caches in the area. If you have never tired it, I highly recommended it. Eyes

Cam had his annual eye exam. It has been neat to see him start to use the “grown up” system for checking his eyes. When he was younger they would use prisms and different lights to see how it would reflect back. I would question how accurate it was (I shouldn’t I have 0 knowledge in ophthalmology). DW had to take a few pics at his apt! This is the first year his perscription has not changed.

Are you walking in financial peace?

We just finished our Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University class tonight. It was AWESOME! I am kind of sad to be done, we had such a fun group and class was a lot of hard work but we have learned so much, been so inspired and truly enjoyed it!!! Here is the AMAZING news…our class (a total of 27 couples) paid off $105,941 in debt and put $297,933 into savings. WOW!!! That was done in 13 weeks between 27 couples. AMAZING! I HIGHLY recommend this class, it has completely changed how we look at things, how we view our future, our careers and our finances. It has been great for our marriage and we look forward to seeing where we will be in the next couple of years. Hopefully some day we will be completely debt free!

Safety

I know this is a few days late but this brought to mind “safety week” challenge. There is a local organization that puts up Christmas lights through our Arboretum and during the holiday months you can drive through and look at thousands of lights and the money goes back to the community. You all know how Cameron is about his Christmas lights and he wanted to walk through and look at all the cords. As we were walking through we saw a big display and he starts yelling “Dad, an indoor surge protector is outside, that is not safe!” You got to love him.




Also take a look at this video to see some of the AWESOME displays. I did not take the video but a local guy in the area did a great job. note... pay attention to how big these displays really are!

We also came across an old well pump. The boys were pretty intrigued by this, they can not imagine having to work for your water!

As the boys and I were out on a walk a few days ago we came across this old fire place in the middle of the woods. I wonder why it is there and if anyone has used it in a while. There are logs and stuff around it with wood in the fire place but no signs of recent use.

Money Dude

Cameron, gets his “commission” on Fridays for things he does extra around the house than his normal chores. What would most kids do with extra money… go spend it! Not Cam, he decided to make a “money dude” out of the change.

All I can think of is "What you talkin 'bout Willis?" from the 80's TV show Different Strokes. This puppy is so funny! Now...if I could just convince him that his leash is NOT a chew toy and that he's suppose to "walk" with me...not look like I am dragging him to his death.

We went out and visited Auntie Jenny's cows a few days ago. These cows have a ton of personality! I wonder what they are thinking in their heads?

Coffee and Pie

Today we got invited to visit grandma Marion at here apartment for some “pie and coffee”. The boys had a blast eating pie and drinking some lemonade out of their “coffee cups”.

Is Spring Here?

Wow, an 81 degree difference from Wednesday morning until now. Thank you God! In honor of the beautiful day we headed out for a little bike ride. We are enjoying the beginning of spring break!

Yesterday we were in a “winter storm” warning calling for 8-10” of snow. Luckily we did not get that much. Yesterday us three boys went out to do the drive way. All of a sudden Keaton is bumping into me with his bike. He has this look on his face “come on dad get going” Keaton always surprises me. What a great attitude to have, when we are all complaining about the snow he grabs his bike and goes. I guess his cup is half full not empty.

Oh and only 45 days until camping season. That does not seem possible!

Yashicas

More "stuff" we have some old Yahicas in the studio that we picked up last summer at a garage sale. We bought two identical cameras and a multiple lenses for $10, sooo cool. The cameras are in great working condition. It has been a few years since I have played with film but it would be fun to do it again.

Oh my Dell! I was just playing around with the camera and taking random pictures of stuff (I am famous for that).

Keaton started back in swimming lessons this week. He has always refused to have anything to do with goggles but when we got there this week he took a look around and realized he was the only one without any on. Thanks goodness Darcy happened to have put them in the swim bag. Darc put them on him and he was happy as could be. Unfortunately he wouldn’t let her tighten them up so they were full of water after a few laps but he didn’t care.

Our New Sanctuary…

The fountian with the rocks is our baptismal font and all the alters, pulpit, etc were handmade by members of our congregation. Very cool!

Ash Wednesday

I think this is one of the first years our whole family has been able to make it to the Ash Wednesday service together. Up until 10 minutes prior to leaving just Darcy and Cameron were going to go and I was going to stay home and work on fixing a butt load of computers and get Keaton down for bed since it would be past his bed time. Well I was at a good stopping point with the computers and Keats really wanted to go so we all went. I am extremely glad I took the extra time and went to the service, I am glad we could spend that time as a family as well. The boys really took in the whole process and had a ton of questions about if the ashes were hot, cold and so on.

This Kid Loves To Work...

Cameron loves to work, I really wish he would like to play a little more. Don't get me wrong I really like the help but he is always asking what he can help out with.

Oh that is so cool!

Keaton came home a few days ago with a poster he created for me! The bottom heart with the purple formation in it is “My Dad”. This is the first time we’ve seen him paint something that some what resembles a person and boy was he proud!

Funny cartoon!

Anyone who knows Cameron knows why this is so funny! He is notorious for putting a price on everything and this is something we could totally see him doing. He got quite a kick out of this cartoon!

Cam's Valentines Box

We were pretty proud of this valentine box Cam and Darcy made for him for his Valentine's Party at school! It took a bit of creativity and lots of red duct tape to wrap a box that big but he LOVED it. His favorite part was sticking all the foam glitter heart stickers on.

Oh and I give all the credit to the scrap page to Darcy as well.

It's a Picasso!

So Cam brought home this fabulous piece of artwork today. I asked him to tell me a little bit about it and he said… “Have you heard of Picasso?” Yes, I have”, I told him. He said (as confident as could be), “It’s a Picasso.” Too cute! God I love this child!

Early Morning Shoots

Last weekend we had three early morning shoots. When Keaton got up that morning I was busy setting up the lights and all that jazz. I asked him if we could come sit for me quick so I could do some test shots and he said only if he could wear the “goofy glasses” so here he sits in his PJ’s or lack of and “goofy glasses” he is such a little trooper when it comes to me trying to get my settings and lighting right. Thanks Keats!

WOW, I forgot I had a blog. It has been forever since I have updated my blog. Life has been nuts. We did manage to sneak our yearly "Edge" water park trip in with the cousins. They had a blast, I can not believe how water logged those kids were by the end of the weekend.
